First Look: Learning in large venues – How AV and video conferencing creates learning experiences in a 350-seat auditorium

Auditoriums present a diverse set of challenges especially when it comes to combining AV, lighting and environment controls to make events easier to manage in various types of scenarios. This project (for an educational institution), involved the integration of video conferencing and lighting to help the facilities team to manage live events in a 350-seat auditorium flawlessly.

The large (300″ diagonal) central projection screen features a crisp 4,000 lumensĀ image from a high-end Christie projector, complemented by the two smaller projections (120″ size screens) for displaying multiple types of content and better visibility from all parts of the auditorium.

Perfect audio clarity is achieved for each participant with a sound system which has 16 x digital surround sound speakers, 2 x sub-woofers and 2 column speakers. Video conferencing is also enabled using two Sony cameras which are linked to a Lifesize codec. A Crestron touch panel with a Nexia control processor provides control to presenters and the facilities team.

Its now a venue for guest speaker events, college festivals, convocations, student and inter-college activities.
